Ways Concrete Pavers Will Elevate Your Hardscaping Project

Blog

If your yard is starting to look worse for wear, you could be wondering how best to enhance its visual appeal while simultaneously ensuring that it stays functional enough for your needs. In years past, landscaping would have been the obvious choice for many a homeowner, as having a lush yard was the epitome of beautiful property! However, this is no longer the case. As water becomes an increasingly scarce resource, planting grass, flowers and array of plants can provide to be an expensive endeavour.

A more cost-efficient solution would be to embark on a hardscaping project! From rock gardens to creating an outdoor living space, hardscaping allows you to make the most of the aesthetic appeal of your property without the burden of arduous plant maintenance. And a staple of these projects is pavers. While there are multiple materials that you can contemplate for this application, here are a few of the ways that concrete pavers will elevate your hardscaping project.

Unrivalled multifunctionality

The main challenge that you will face when hardscaping your property is finding supplies suitable for the various applications in your yard. For example, while natural pavers are a great option, materials such as limestone are not ideal for heavy traffic, since it will crumble with time. Hence, you may find that you have to mix and match supplies to bring your dream yard to life.

This is not a problem that you will contend with when you choose concrete pavers for this project. Not only do these pavers come in a variety of sizes, but they are also available in a range of shapes, finishes and textures! Since concrete is ideally suited for outdoor applications, you only need to change the appearance of the pavers depending on the application, rather than choose a separate material altogether!

Nominal upkeep

The second challenge that you are bound to face once you have hardscaped your property is making sure that you provide your pavers with the routine maintenance. Natural stone materials such as sandstone, slate and even marble may be highly attractive. However, to maintain their pristine appearance, they will need some upkeep. Regular sweeping to eliminate debris that will scratch the surface of the pavers will be necessary, as well as routine sealing and stain removal too.

Concrete does not pose this problem. For starters, concrete is designed for outdoor applications. As long as it is pressure washed on occasion, you can be assured that the pavers will stay dirt and stain-free. Additionally, pavers used in areas that do not need a high degree of traction, such as on your veranda, can be polished to give them a glossy finish that is impermeable to water and staining.
